Members Challenge IN Retailer Registration Law
May 7, 2008 -- Media Coalition members today filed a lawsuit in
federal district court challenging a new registration law that
infringes on the First Amendment rights of book, music, and video
stores. The organizations are asking that the court declare the law
to be unconstitutional and prohibit the state from enforcing it.
The case is

Circuit Denies Review for MN Video Game Case
May 7, 2008 -- The Eighth Circuit Court of
Appeal today issued and order denying
Minnesota’s motion
for rehearing en banc in ESA v.
Swanson. A three-judge panel earlier ruled Minnesota may not bar those under 17 from purchasing video games
rated "M" or "AO." Some MC members are plaintiffs

Members Challenge Oregon Sexual Content Law
April 25, 2008 -- Media Coalition members today joined the Oregon
Civil Liberty Union, bookstores, and a comic book publisher in
challenging a sexual content restriction that could affect
constitutionally protected material. A complaint was filed in
federal district court in Portland, Oregon. The case is
Powell's Books v. Myers. |

file brief in Sixth Circuit in OH Case
March 31, 2008 -- Media Coalition members today filed a brief in the
Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in a cross-appeal of U.S. District Court Judge
Rice's ruling that found a
"harmful to minors" statute as applied to the Internet
unconstitutional.

Amicus Brief in Ninth Circuit
February 27, 2007 -- Media Coalition members filed an amicus brief
today in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in this challenge to a law that
would ban the sale or rental of video games with violent content and
require labeling of the restricted games. For more, click

Utah Harmful to Minors Challenge Proceeds
November 29, 2007 -- U.S. District Court Judge Benson today issued an
order and opinion on defendants' motion to dismiss, ruling most
plaintiffs have standing to move ahead with the most of the claims.
