American Booksellers Assn., Inc. v. Hudnut,

475 U. S. 1001 (1986) 98 F. Supp. 1316 (S.D. Ind. 1984), aff'd 771 F.2d 323 (7th Cir. 1985), aff'd, 475 U.S. 1001 (1986)

American Booksellers Association v. Hudnut challenged the constitutionality of the Antipornography Civil Rights Act as enacted by Indianopolis, Indiana in 1986. U.S. District Judge Easterbrook ruled that the law's definition of "pornography" was overbroad, and the law was struck down. The definition was so broad that the ordinance would have covered anything from Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho to The Story of O.
